The U.N.I.T.Y. Project

The United Network of Intelligent Teens and Youth Radio, Television, and Publishing Project [U.N.I.T.Y. Project] is a sixteen-week introductory program designed to engage high school students attending public schools in Syracuse, New York, an interactive broadcasting and publishing experience while preparing them for careers in journalism and the media. Students will participate in a series of workshops intended to teach practical skills for use in radio and television broadcasting, as well as newspaper/magazine publishing, web-based publishing, and promotions.

The MISSION of the U.N.I.T.Y. Project is to educate and empower youth through interactive opportunities related to the creation and consumption of media.

The PURPOSE of the U.N.I.T.Y. Project is three-fold:

To empower youth to make informed decisions about their choice of media and media usage.

To provide young people with a valid, relative voice through media produces by and for youth and young adults.

To provide educational opportunities and resources for youth aspiring to careers in communications.
